Quintessential Dzogchen: Confusion Dawns As Wisdom

Book Summary

This hands-on guidebook adapts the Dzogchen path for the modern student while adhering to traditional principles. The book is based on the direct, accessible style of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and offers a thorough grounding in how to study, contemplate, and meditate in this rich spiritual environment. Guided by an introductory teaching by Rinpoche, as well as 42 selected teachings from great Dzogchen masters, readers learn to access the pure, clear awareness that lies hidden under the constant flow of anxious thoughts. About the Author Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche was born in eastern Tibet on the tenth day of the fourth Tibetan month in 1920 and passed away in Nepal on February 13, 1996. H. H. Khakyab Dorje, the fifteenth Gylwang Karmapa, recognized him as an incarnate lama. He studied and practiced the teachings of both the Kagu and Nyingma orders of Tibetan Buddhism. Tulku Urgyen established several monasteries and retreat centers in Nepal. The most important ones in the Kathmandu region are Boudhanath, the site of the Great Stupa; at the Asura Cave, where Padmasambhava manifested the Mahamudra Vidyadhara level; and at the Swayambhu stupa. Marcia Binder Schmidt has been an editor and publisher of Vajrayana Buddhist literature for over eighteen years. She and her husband, Erik Pema Kunsang, author and translator, have produced many Buddhist books and translations in English.
