Book Summary
First Freedom is an important gathering of messages from a recent conference on religious liberty held at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jason B. Duesing, one of the editors, explains that the purpose of this collection is, first, to provide an introductory look into the biblical and historical foundations of religious liberty combined with contemporary expression and defense in order to instruct, edify, and encourage the reader. The second purpose is to remind Baptists in the 21st century of the price that was paid by their forefathers for the establishment and defense of religious liberty. People of various religious and denominational preferences were used by God to implement the religious freedoms now enjoyed by all, but it is important for Baptists to recognize their own contributions.
