Book Summary
Help! I'm Tired of Religion centers on the effect of wrong Christian doctrines on the lives of nine characters who were led to believe that God is a means to their ends. Take, for example, Janette Dubois, a Canadian from Ontario who was introduced to Christianity at age 39. A spinster in desperate need of a husband of her own, she accepted Christ when she was assured that He was her passport to matrimonial bliss. Another character is Bukola Akintola from Nigeria. After losing millions of dollars to fraudsters, a friend pointed him to Christ as a stepping stone to business breakthrough. With this as their foundation, they embrace Christianity and become involved with service all in an attempt to win God's approval and receive their desired blessings. They strive to please God but are met with the silence of heaven. In desperation, they begin questioning their Christian experience. Could it be they were sold the wrong product? But when they finally seek God in earnest, this time to know and love him, they find a Father who has orchestrated their wilderness experiences to deliver them from dead religion.
