Book Summary
"Bringing the English speaking person to the Word of God." -The PlowShare Mission. This reference dictionary provides the stepping stone between biblical Hebraic-Koine Greek and modern English. Using common English words, the biblical Greek word is defined by distinct, easy-to-read English word forms that preserve the distinct concept and contextual meanings used in the Hebraic biblical Greek text. One does not need to know biblical Greek and the associated Hebraic concepts to use this dictionary. However, in order to truly enjoy a fuller understanding of the richness and clarity of God's Word, the student should embrace both biblical Greek and Hebrew. This Greek Dictionary and its companion Interlinear Bible were created to help the student move beyond the limitations of English translation. The Hilkiah Edition was hand-translated to ensure the preservation of the concepts and contexts expressed in the biblical Greek text. Custom software was used to facilitate the effort. One primary undertaking required by this endeavor was to reconcile biblical English vocabulary with biblical Greek vocabulary. This assured the highest degree of English word consistency with the Greek text itself. The benefit is a more accurate presentation and correlation of biblical thoughts, concepts, and contextual meanings.
