Raised as a Christian, Linnette Sow had never experienced discrimination until she married a Muslim. Whenever she mentions her husband is a Muslim, she is astounded by the hostility she receives at the hands of some Christians. What's So Different About Islam? gives an overview of her experiences living in the Christian world and in the Islamic faith. Because of her experience of both worlds, Sow believes the two religions are at odds partly out of fear, deriving from atrocities carried out by a small minority of individuals. The other reason is lack of knowledge of the others' beliefs and religious teachings, some of which are very much the same. Author Linnette James-Sow was born in Jamaica and immigrated with her single mother to England when she was 16. She was raised to be a devout Christian and to be nonjudgmental of other ethnic background, races or religion. Sow is a great fan of J.K. Rowling and has written poetry and songs for many years. A psychiatric nurse, she lives with her husband in Northampton, 70 miles north of London.
