L'Imitatio Dei Dans Le Targum Et La Aggada

Book Summary

The importance of the divine example in Judaism stems from its direct reflection - according to the Scripture - of the acts and qualities it portrays, from its official teaching in the Targum, and from the many texts that elaborate on it. The teachings transported in the Targum were chosen - at their time of insertion - for their orthodoxy, and because they were fundamental and predisposed to widespread distribution. The questions addressed in this study are: When was the notion of divine imitation first introduced into the Targum? When and in what historical and exegetical context were the Targum and the elements that constitute it drawn up? What are the changes and elaborations to the Targum? The research carried out here uses contemporary and older sources that, together with the Targum, form the corpus of rabbinic literature, French text.
