Once, in the courtyard of the house Krishna was playing with his friends. Yasoda was busy in kitchen work. All of a sudden Balarama came and told her mother that Krishna had eaten mud. Yasoda didn’t believe him. But the other friends also told the same incident of mud eating to Yasoda. Yasoda got irritated by Krishna’s act of eating mud. Why he should eat mud as there were so many sweets in the house. She went to Krishna; hold him from both hands as to slap him. She said with anger: Krishna! Why did you eat mud? Your friends and even Balarama say so.” But Krishna objected. He said, “Mother, I have not eaten any mud. They are all liars. If you want check, please look into my mouth.”
Yasoda agreed and said “All right, open your mouth. Let me look into it”. Krishna opened his mouth. Ah! What did mother Yasoda see in his mouth!
Inside Krishna’s mouth she saw the whole universe. There was the whole earth, heaven, sun, moon, stars and all else! All the mighty god and goddesses were there. There was also a strange light in the mouth. She saw the whole Gokula too inside the mouth. She saw herself too sitting inside his mouth and examining the open mouth of her beloved boy. She was unable to believe that within the mouth of her son such things could appear. Yet she was seeing them! She was struck with fear and wonder. She began to argue within herself; “Is it a dream? Or is this the Lord’s ways? Or the imagination of my heated brain? Or can this be due to some extraordinary power possessed by my boy?”
And then she wondered, “I am not dreaming, my eyes are open. I am actually seeing what is happening before. So this vision must be due to some divine power of my son, as predicted by Gargamuni.” Tossed by many such thoughts, she took the best course.
She left everything on to the Lord and prayed to Him to protect her child. When we face some problems and find no solution for that, there is no other choice except to surrender to the Supreme Lord and offer Him our respectful prayers. Yasoda adopted this mean. Lord Krishna cast the magic charm of his Maya again on her and appeared like a small child to her eyes. Mother Yasoda forgot the entire incident like a dream. Once again her natural feeling of affection provoked, she took Krishna on her lap and fondled him.
